A love relationship in two acts

Vita and Virginia

Iambic is thrilled to be associated with the Players Collective in  presenting this unusual dramatisation.

A two women play about the relationship, influences and literary styles of aristocrat Vita Sackville-West and Bloomsbury-set member & novelist, Virginia Woolf. As love stories go, this tale of Vita and Virginia was one of the most passionate in the literary world and spanned almost two decades; they nurtured their physical and literary love affair through their intimate correspondence.

The script has been artfully created by actress and playwright Eileen Atkins: she has compiled extracts from their letters and diaries, and presents a unique portrait of Vita and Virginia in dialogue.

This particular version of Vita and Virginia was originally produced by The Players Collective in Lewes in September 2011, and played to critical acclaim.

What happens when the wife goes to meet her husband’s lover?

The Lover, The Wife

A fun, fast moving play, translated from the French, by Colin David Reese and brought to Iambic from Paris.

Modern comedy based on a common theme: two women involved with the same man. Play views the situation entirely from the woman’s point of view and follows their different stories. The women would never have met except for Christine’s desire to find out who her husband’s mistress is.

A final and luscious twist ensues and the final scene brings the women together in ways they never thought possible.

A certainty for an entertaining evening and a taster of what our international program has lined up for the Fringe 2012.

A BALLOON FOR ALLAH
		When the Norwegian-Turkish filmmaker Nefise Özkal Lorentzen was little, she used to send letters to Allah by balloon. Now she wants to send a new balloon to change the role of women in the Muslim culture. 		In 2011 people of the Arab world, inspired by their youth, took to the streets across the Middle East and North Africa in popular uprisings to fight for their rights and bring democratic rule. The so-called Arab Spring began in Tunisia where a young street vendor Mohammed Bouazizi set himself on fire on December 17, 2010, lighting a flame that would burn across the region. Read more here…

One stormy night. A shed load of money. It’s 1968 and friends Betty and Ruth hide out in Douglas Street Community Allotments, Shepton Mallet. They choose to forsake the garden path of china, chintz and children to pursue a wild Hollywood-bound bank-robbing adventure. Playing records on their vintage player, the girls remember their childhood dreams as the storm gathers around them.

A jam-packed fast moving one-man show, combining comedy and story-telling.

Sam Brady is a stand-up comedian, based in the North West of England. Sam began comedy in 2008, and has been full-time since October 2010. His debut Fringe show, Meditation Ruined My Life is receiving an emphatically positive response from audiences.

The show, which tells the true story of how Sam trained to be a Buddhist monk (and failed), received two five star reviews for itʼs preview in Manchester in July and won a Forever Manchester Award at the Not Part Of Festival.
