Emma D'Arcy. the Artistic Director of Iambic Arts, comes from a theatrical background and is a performance poet.
Her uncle was an American playwright, as well as an International Stage & T.V.Producer, Philip Burton; he founded the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York, and was its first President; the school specialized in the training of professional actors. Emma attended the Academy, and studied both drama and voice projection under his direction, and gave solo performances of poetry in New York. Philip adopted Richard Burton, and as a result much of her earlier life was steeped in film and the theatre. The Burtons sponsored her highly successful series of underground poetry magazines and her other various literary publications dedicated to poetry.
